Happy Holidays!
I hope you all had some time to enjoy Thanksgiving with family. I certainly did and I have so much to be grateful for!
When you read this I will be off to San Antonio for the Athletic Business Conference. I have been presenting for that conference for more than a decade and it is a highlight of mine every year.
We hosted our first webinar with Athletic Business in November and it was a huge success. Read more about the next two webinars we have planned below. You can still sign up for all three and you can listen to the archive of the first one at your convenience.
This month, Jill Bartholomew, a member of Our Team of Speakers,
will be sharing her words of wisdom about how to mentally prepare
for all those holiday festivities. 'Tis the season you know!
Enjoy the featured article below.
As you wind down this year, send me a line and let me know how I can support your endeavors in 2009. I love hearing from you! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Your fan,

"HOLIDAY or HOLIdaze TIME"
By Jill Bartholomew

When the holidays arrive, we sometimes find ourselves in a rush to do too much. There are parties to attend, shopping to do, cookies to bake, rooms to decorate, services to attend, and sometimes we forget to do the right thing.
Here is a list of tips to help you breeze through the holidays with style.
- RSVP to parties within a day or two of receiving an invitation.
- Bring a gift to the host/hostess, a poinsettia plant, box of candy or bottle of wine with a thank you note attached.
- Send out your holiday cards early.
- Mail packages by the first week of December if shipping to a US address.
- If you are writing a holiday letter, keep it to one page.
- Know when to stop drinking the spiked eggnog, so that you don't embarrass yourself or your host/hostess and you can still get home safely.
- Remember, how you handle yourself at the office party will be remembered by your boss and co-workers.
- Spend time talking with a variety of people, the host/hostess can't spend all their time with you.
- Attach gift receipts to all of your gifts.
- Don't overstay your welcome, when a party ends its time for everyone to go home.
- Do something for others this holiday. This may be your best gift.
Here is something everyone can do: Send a card to a hero, you can send your own card or download a card to send from this website,
www.redcross.org/holidaymail. The American Red Cross is sponsoring a national "Holiday Mail for Heroes" campaign to receive and distribute holiday cards to service members and veterans and their families both in the United States and abroad.
The goal is to collect and distribute 1 million pieces of holiday mail. So let's help them out and say thanks to our service men and women.
"As we enter this holiday season-a time to celebrate with family and friends-it's important to remember the thousands of men and women who serve our nation in harm's way and those who are recovering in military and veterans' hospitals," said Army Col. Norvell V. Coots, commander, Walter Reed Health Care System. "The Holiday Mail for Heroes program is a wonderful outreach effort and a great way to acknowledge the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform."
Holiday cards should be mailed to:
Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights , MD. 20791-5456
All cards must be postmarked no later than Dec. 10.
In our busy lives, we all like to be remembered and thanked and yet giving to others can bring the most joy. Have a wonderful holiday season!
