To help make your program successful, we have provided you with
some tips and hints!
When invitations to attend the training are distributed, Ruby highly
recommends that you include information about how to RSVP for the
program. When participants are required to commit to a time and
date, it improves the chances that they will make time to attend.
Having an attendee list makes it easier to follow up with those
who have not RSVP'd by the deadline. It is also helpful to know
the number of attendees when preparing handouts and setting up the
room for training.
Welcoming remarks can set a positive tone for the program when
the introducer makes positive comments to those attending. (i.e.:
"Thank you for attending today's session. Our agency supports
training and wants to provide you with the tools to more easily
do your job.") Ruby is happy to review anyone's opening remarks
prior to the beginning of the program. Ruby's goal is to help everyone
shine!
Ruby would like to be introduced and will provide a written introduction
about her for you to read at the beginning of the program.
(Please feel free to share the following information with department
heads and supervisors)
Leaders of the organization can set the tone of the meeting by
mingling with other staff levels. If leaders of the agency will
be attending the program, encourage them to jump right in and be
involved with the other participants. If a manager or supervisor
sits along side other staff members and participates actively, it
sets a positive example for learning. Occasionally, leaders like
to sit together in the back and that behavior sends a subliminal
message that "We don't need training." This perception
does not promote a positive learning environment.
